All patient files in PracSuite are assigned a default practitioner, which highlights the patient's preferred practitioner or the primary practitioner who is currently treating a patient.

Various reports in PracSuite offer filtering and grouping options based on default practitioners.

If a practitioner is leaving the practice, or another practitioner is taking over care of someone else's patients, it's possible to update the default practitioner on patient files in bulk.

To update default practitioners in bulk, go to the Patient List report.

You can apply any filters to narrow down the list of patients that you want to update the default practitioner. The filter that makes the most sense in this context is the Default Practitioner filter, which will find all patients assigned to that practitioner.

Once you've decided on your filters, select the Generate Report button.

Above the grid of results, select the Default Practitioners button.

All patients in the report results will have their default practitioner updated to the practitioner selected on the next screen.

Select Update to finalise your changes.

To change the default practitioner file in bulk, the user's role must have the ability to Change Default Practitioners in Bulk as shown below:
