Using custom body charts in clinical notes

Upload your own body chart images and mark them up with the same drawing tools as the standard charts.

PracSuite includes a set of standard body charts you can add to any clinical note. If you would rather use your own chart, such as a diagram of a hand, a foot, a specific muscle group or a clinic-branded chart, you can upload it as an image and mark it up with the same drawing and annotation tools.

Standard body charts

Our standard body charts are available in the Body Chart component. Select this component when you want to choose from the built-in charts, such as full body (anterior and posterior), anterior only or posterior only.

Custom body charts

To use your own chart, use the Image component instead of Body Chart.

Custom images have all the same drawing and annotation tools available as the standard body charts. You can upload your preferred image and mark it up in the same way.

Note: Image is the only component you need to add to the template. You do not need to add a Body Chart component as well.

Creating a custom body chart template

  1. Go to Settings > Clinical Notes > Templates and select Add Template.

  2. Enter a Name for the template. If you have a folder for your custom charts, select it in the Folder field (see below).

  3. Select Add to Note, then choose Image from the Components list.

  4. Upload your preferred chart image.

  5. Select Save.

Repeat these steps for each custom chart you want to use.

Keeping your custom charts in a folder

If you plan to use several custom charts, we recommend saving them all in a dedicated folder, such as "Body charts". This keeps them together and makes them easy to find when you are writing notes.

When creating a new clinical note template, you can assign the template to a folder at the top of the page.

To create a folder, go to Settings > Templates> Clinical Notes.

Select Edit and then select Add Folder.

Adding a custom chart to a clinical note

  1. Open the patient file and start a new clinical note.

  2. Select Add to Note.

  3. Open the folder you saved your custom charts in and select the chart you need.

  4. Use the drawing and annotation tools to mark up the chart, then save the note.

Custom body charts in forms

If you want patients to mark a custom chart in a form, use the Body Chart element in your form template and select Custom to upload your own image. See Creating Form Templates for more information.
