Overview
Invoice Online Payment Links allow you to send patients an email or SMS with a link to pay their invoice online with Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay. It's also possible to display an optional QR code on the invoice for the patient to scan to pay their invoice online.
Once a patient clicks an invoice link, they will see an itemised invoice and the option to pay with a debit card or credit card powered by Tyro Health Online. Once paid, they will be able to view and download their receipt.
Prerequisites
Accepting online payments is powered by PracSuite's integration with Tyro Health Online. To use the invoice online payment links feature, you will need to:
Create a Tyro Health Online account.
Set up the Tyro Health Online integration in PracSuite.
Be aware of Tyro Online's payment process fees. PracSuite users receive a discounted payment processing fee of 30¢ + 1.3% per transaction. Refer to Tyro Health Online for full pricing details.
Enabling Invoice Online Payment Links
Follow the steps below to enable invoice links:
Ensure you have enabled the Tyro Health Online integration.
Ensure that you have entered Tyro Health Online Payment Overrides for each business. This will ensure your patients can proceed with paying online when there are configuration issues with the practitioner provider number.
Go to Settings > Businesses and enable invoice links for each business
Within each business that you want to create invoice links for, scroll down to the Invoice Payment Print Options section.
Enable Online Payment Links to be able to include online payment links when emailing invoices or when sending overdue reminders by SMS.
You can also choose to enable Print QR Code on Invoices, which will display an optional QR code on the invoice for the patient to scan to pay the invoice online, as shown below:
Unsupported Invoices
The following types of invoices cannot be paid online:
Invoices for a business that is not using the Tyro Health Online integration.
Invoices with pending claims, such as Medicare claims.
Third-party Payer invoices with multiple patients
Adding Invoice Links To Email Templates
To include invoice online payment links in your email or SMS, you must include the <<InvoiceLink>> merge field.
You can insert the Invoice Link merge field from the Invoice menu when creating or editing your email templates.
Once the Invoice Link is in your preferred email template, it will be included when you're emailing invoices from the following locations:
Using the Email button at the top of an invoice
Sending Invoices from the Invoices tab of the patient file
Sending Invoices in bulk from the Outstanding Invoices report.
You can also manually copy the invoice link, or SMS or email using the Copy Link button displayed at the top of an invoice.
Link Expiry Time Frames
Invoice links sent via email do not expire. Invoice links sent via SMS are converted to a short URL that expires after 30 days.
Patient Experience
When patients click the link or scan the QR code to pay online, they will be directed to a web page displaying their invoice and the outstanding balance.
The patient will be directed to pay online via Tyro Health Online using Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
After completing payment, the patient will be able to download a copy of their receipt.
Online Payment Alerts
When a patient pays online using invoice payment links, an alert will be displayed in PracSuite. The alert is purely information and doesn't require any action other than clearing the alert.
If you're not seeing the Online Payment category, you can enable it in your alert settings, as shown below:
Sending prepayment links?
If you require patients to prepay for their appointment, it's generally not advised to provide itemised invoices before their appointment is complete. This could open up the door for fraud, where a patient cancels their appointment but sends the invoice to their health fund despite not attending the appointment.
If you require patients to pre-pay, we recommend using the prepayment links feature instead of the invoice links feature. Prepayment links do not expose the itemised invoice to the patient and are designed to be included in appointment reminders.
