Uploading an Attachment to the Patient > Files Tab

To upload an attachment to the patient file, navigate to the Patient file > Files tab and click Add. A window will appear for you to browse for files on your computer.

Alternatively, you can drag and drop the appropriate files directly into the browser into the Drop files here to upload section.

Hovering over each file displays options to delete, edit and download the file.

The edit window allows users to change the description, date, owner and confidential status of the file.

Confidential Files

Marking a file attachment as confidential will restrict access to the Owner and any other PracSuite users with the System Administrator role and users with the Clinical Note Administrator permission on their role.

To mark a file as confidential, go into the Patient File > Files tab and select the edit pencil to the right of the Files list.

Select the 'Confidential' option. This will also be an opportunity to change the Owner of the file if required. Click 'Save' to finalise your changes.

The Confidential icon will now be displayed in the Files list.

Attaching a File to a Specific Clinical Note

To upload a File to a specific clinical note, use the Attach File button at the top of the clinical note tab.

When uploading attachments from the clinical notes tab, you'll have the option to disable it from appearing in Files tab of the patient record. This is ideal for sensitive files that should not be available for general access to everyone with access to the Files tab.

If you do not want the attachment to display in the Files tab, uncheck the 'show in patient files' option.

The attachment will only be accessible from the clinical note you've attached it to, and will only be visible to people who can access the note itself.
