Claims can have a status of Bulk Bill, Fully Paid or Part Paid:
Bulk Bill:
This claim was submitted as a Bulk Bill claim, meaning no gap payment was applicable and the patient has not made any payment towards the consultation. In this case the servicing practitioner (or designated payee practitioner) will receive the rebate payment from Medicare.
Fully Paid:
This claim was submitted as a Patient Claim, where the patient has paid the entire balance of the consultation themselves. Patient claims that are fully paid are approved or declined within seconds, and the patient can then receive the rebate payment by swiping their EFTPOS card on the terminal. The payment is then paid directly to their bank account, almost immediately.
Part Paid:
This claim was submitted as a Patient Claim, where the patient has only paid for part of the consultation (typically the 'gap' amount) and not the entire balance. In this case the patient (or alternate claimant) will receive the rebate in the form of a cheque, however the cheque will be issued to the servicing practitioner or designated payee practitioner. The patient must then bring the cheque to the practice along with any outstanding balance.
Each grid result can be expanded to show the items submitted in the claim, including the charge amount and benefit amount where applicable.
