Creating a unique email address for PracSuite
Creating a unique email address for PracSuite
Updated over 2 weeks ago

For security reasons, each email address can only be registered to a single PracSuite user account. This means that if an employee has worked across multiple businesses using PracSuite, their email address may be considered ''in use'' and therefore unavailable to register again.

Thankfully, there is an easy solution called "subaddressing" to work around this problem - without needing multiple email accounts or any prior setup.

Subaddressing, also known as plus addressing, lets you modify your email address by adding a plus sign (+) and a keyword before the "@" symbol. This feature is supported by most major email providers, including Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo.

How It Works

If your email address is:
πŸ“§ yourname@example.com

You can create variations like:
πŸ“§ yourname+pracsuite@example.com
πŸ“§ yourname+adelaide@example.com
πŸ“§ yourname+sydney@example.com

All emails sent to these addresses will still go to your original inbox (yourname@example.com), but you can use the variations to register multiple user accounts within PracSuite.

As an alternative, you can also:
1) Create an alias address in your email account, which creates a more permanent secondary address linked to your mailbox.

2) Where supported by your email provider, use an interchangeable domain.

For example, users with an @gmail.com address can also use the domain @googlemail.com (e.g. smartsoft@googlemail.com can be used in place of smartsoft@gmail.com)

When creating new PracSuite user accounts, you can opt to register the user with an email address in any of the above formats.
